Meet a Trader: Glenn – The Paint Place

Glenn Opened The Paint Place in March 1988 –

This Established Business boasts over 20 years in business.

A stroll down memory lane for Mr Glenn Foote …… Glenn left school and went to work at National Paints, he then branched out and did some painting himself for 4 years. Glenn then acquired his new job position at Bristol Paints on Croydon Main Street which is where he stayed for 15 years.

In this time he worked his way up the ladder to become an Area Manager of 14 shops, amongst a list of duties each day, one of the job requirements of Glenn’s job was to find new sites for NEW Bristol stores to open up and expand there brand – this gave him a good eye !!

Glenn had a plan , he approached a Furniture shop on the opposite side of Croydon Main Street from the Bristol shop.

Glenn took the leap of faith and opened his own independant store – ‘The Paint Place’
Glenn with his supporting wife Shelley went into business to service the Croydon area,

Over the years Glenn has seen many customers return time and time again. He has sold paint to all of the family members. Glenn’s store also has a large percentage of the Trade Painter and can reccommend a good painter for any job. Glenn can also assist in small Maintenance Repairs with his Internal Handy Man Service.

The Paint Place has wonderful experienced staff who are all very happy to chat and laugh with you – Johnny, John, Brian and Steph who is the ‘colour consultant’ she is ready to help with any painting and decorating needs. Glenn has his own brand in store along with Wattyl, all accessories and stains.

Convenience of a Back door pick up service and trade deliveries.

‘Chester the Horse’

Chester is always seen at the front of the shop and is known by many. One time Chester was in a very unfortunate car accident, Glenn came to work in the following days to find condolence cards at the front of the shop wondering where ‘Chester The horse’ had gone, the much loved horse in the community had to make a return to The Paint Place – so the Wattle Mascot number 2 was delivered and is still at the shop each and every day looking as young as ever, many children stop to have a photo (maybe some adults in there to…)

‘Super friendly, approachable and helpful guys. I dropped in today to pick up some paint and supplies and they went above and beyond. Honestly can’t recommend them enough!’ – Jaimee

Something you many not know: Glenn’s Father Les Foote – VFL North Melbourne , one of the northerners’ greatest ever sons. In 1971 a poll among members had Les tied in for 1st place as one of the Greatest Team players in History. Captain of North Melbourne between 1948 and 1951. One of his finest performances in a North Melbourne Jumper was in the 1950 Preliminary Final against Geelong.
Les Foote VFL career was 134 games and 105 goals for North and 33 games and 4 goals for the Saints.
